1   Safety Precautions


In this chapter you will find the general safety instructions. Specific safety hints are placed before any step/action, if that action could endanger the operator or the device.


1.1  Meaning of Alerts: Danger, Warning and Caution

DANGER – highlighted in red color

Indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in death or serious injury. This signal word is to be limited to the most extreme situations.

 

WARNING – highlighted in orange color

Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury.

 

CAUTION – highlighted in yellow color

I ndicates a potentially hazardous situation, which, if not avoided, may result in minor or moderate injury. It may also be used to alert against unsafe practices.

 


1.2   Meaning of Hints: Notice, Precondition and Reference

NOTICE – highlighted in green color

Indicates information considered important but not directly hazard related.

PRECONDITION– highlighted in blue color

Indicates a condition that must exist or be established before something can occur or be considered.

REFERENCE

Indicates important supplementary information that users should take into account when performing procedures or understanding concepts.

 


 


1.3   Safety Instructions


Personnel should use caution when installing, operating and servicing this equipment.

Before accessing and/or working on this equipment you have to read and understand the following Safety Notices:
 

  
Read Safety Manual

Before accessing and/or working on the M1M3 read and understand the Safety Chapter of the Manual.

 

Wear Safety Helmet

To avoid injury to an operator and/or serious property damage you have to wear a safety helmet when accessing and/or working inside the M1M3 mirror cell.

 

Wear Safety Shoes

To avoid injury to an operator and/or serious property damage you have to wear safety shoes.

 

Wear Protective Gloves

Always wear gloves at maintenance and installation activities.

 

  
Safety Glasses

Always wear safety glasses at maintenance and installation activities.

 

  
Wear Knee pads
Always wear knee pads as personal protective equipment during maintenance and installation activities.

 

 

 

People required

Indicates how many people are required to perform the task .

 

Wear Safety Harness

Always wear safety harness when accessing the M1M3 from outside.

                 

 

CAUTION

Never make internal adjustments or perform maintenance or service when alone or fatigued.

 

  
Electrical Hazard

This system is designed to be integrated with various types of electronic equipment. The electrical currents and voltages associated with this equipment are dangerous. Personnel must at all times observe safety regulations.

 

  
Hazardous Voltage

Lockout – Tagout while serving. Refer to OSHA 1910.147.

 

  
Electrical Hazard

Always disconnect the electrical power before opening covers, enclosures, gates, panels, or shields.

 

  
Electrical hazard

Electrical hazard because UPS power is always on, even if main switch is turned off! If you want to turn of the complete power, turn of the UPS.

2   Introduction


2.1   About this Documentation


The present procedure will give you a basic introduction about the installation and removal of the M1M3.


2.2   Purpose and Target Group


This document is intended as a general guide for trained and qualified personnel who are aware of the danger of handling potentially hazardous electrical and electronic circuits, working in confined spaces and handling heavy objects with limited access.

This document is not intended to contain a complete statement of all safety precautions that should be observed by personnel in using this or other equipment.

2.3   Information and Obligations Regarding the Documentation
